Computer-Ms. Redmond:  We begin with Introduction to Computers covering names of the components, keyboarding-typing with two hands in Microsoft Office Word, and becoming familiar with the different programs to be used this school year.

 

P.E-Coach Pauline Kelpsch:  AUGUST: Putt putt golf-1st thru 7th.  SEPTEMBER: Kick ball-4th thru 7th, Hand-eye coordination-1st-3rd. Have a great day!

 

Music-Ms. Becky McMeel:  Pre-k, YK, and K’s are learning our routines and chapel songs.  We will begin “fun” stuff such as instruments, bean bags, rhythm sticks and boomwhackers.  1st through 7th are learning our National Anthem, and will be part of “The National Anthem Project” sponsored by MENC by singing the Anthem at our All-School chapel on September 14th.  All parents and friends are invited to attend!  4th thru 7th graders are beginning our keyboarding adventure.  5th, 6th, and 7th are tone chiming & singing, & 1st thru 3rd are singing chapel songs & will soon be beginning music theory. We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to sing!!!!!

 

Spanish-Ms. Erianna LeBoeuf:  LOWER SCHOOL- colors, numbers, shapes, greetings and the alphabet.  UPPER SCHOOL-  Reviewing colors, numbers, how to greet someone, days of the week, months of the year, and shapes.

WHAT I DID IN SCHOOL TODAY

 

PRE-SCHOOL-Ms. Betty King/Ms. Susan Bercegeay:  Three year olds, during the month of August, will be covering the numbers 1 and 2, the color red, the shape circle, the opposites noisy and quiet, and following the rules.  September will find us learning the number 3, the color orange, the shape triangle, the opposites over and under, and friendship.

 

PRE-K-Ms. Chassidy Trosclair/Ms. Penny Leary:  We will be adjusting to our school, class, procedures, & our new friends. September will find us beginning the alphabet with a-b-& c.  The numbers 1 & 2, the shape circle, & the colors red, blue, & green are also on the list.   We will learn about community workers-especially teachers, the feelings happy/sad, home & family, our self concept, & body parts!  Whew!  We have a full schedule!!!

 

YK-Ms. Dawn Mitchell:  August finds us studying “All About Me” and families.  September finds us learning about homes, apples, community workers and the letters c, o, and g.  We are becoming a family and learning how to stick together as a team.

 

KINDERGARTEN-Ms. Sherry Cane/Katie Babin:  Kindergarten is great!  We are learning all about routine, rules, and having fun!  We will be starting new books and working very hard.  We are enjoying music, Spanish, and of course RECESS!  We are becoming a family and learning how to stick together as a team.

 1st Grade-Ms. Larke Leonard/Terry Matherne:  We started the year by reviewing sight words and practicing our handwriting.  We are recognizing the beginning and ending sounds of words, and are also learning words with short vowels.  Math finds us practicing with numbers, graphing, and comparing groups of objects.  We are so happy to get things started!!!!

 

2nd Grade-Ms. Jill Pere’:  Second graders are working on addition & subtraction in math, reading our A.R. books & stories from our reading books.  Fridays finds us creating art projects that relate to topics in class.

 

3rd Grade-Ms. Gerry Lovell:  Reading finds us learning skills such as story element, making predictions, & using a glossary & prefixes.  4 kinds of sentences & punctuation are the order of the day in English.  Spelling covers words with the long “a” & “e” sound, & words with short vowels.  Fact families; place values, money, & time will be covered in math, & maps & globes in social studies.  Science will find us measuring & describing matter & materials.

 

4th Grade-Ms. Jeanne Voisin: Science- Science lab every week/ classifying plants. SS-Maps and globes and making classroom maps with a compass rose and map key. English-Identifying sentence types and writing narratives.  Reading- “The Lost Lake” in the unit titled Reflections.  We are visualizing the story and making movies in our heads.  Examining characters and setting are also on the agenda!  We have adjusted to “Upper school” and are enjoying our “Fish” work and play activities.  The students have been listening to me read Tales of the Fourth Grade Nothing  just for fun.  It will be a FANTASTIC year!!!!!

 

5th Grade-Ms. Patricia Brewis:  Math- place values, fractions, and decimals.  Science-Vertebrates and Invertebrates.  Social Studies-American History.  Reading-  A.R. point total this quarter is 15.  GO FIFTH GRADE!!!!!

 

6th Grade-Ms. Kayla Cressione:  Ms. Kayla’s class is starting the year off with a bang! They are adjusting to changing classrooms with the 7th graders.  They are working in cooperative groups in science, math, and social studies, with more Kagan cooperative learning strategies being utilized as the year progresses.  Science- research portfolios.  Math-family math take-home assignments.  It’s been a GREAT beginning of the year for all!!!

 

7th Grade-Ms. Marlene Blake:  Ms. Blake’s students will be learning & doing a lot of exciting things this year.  The students are working in cooperative groups in English, Reading, & Social Studies and they will have a writing portfolio.  English-grammar and diagramming sentences.  Spelling-words across the curriculum & spelling book.  Social Studies-research papers and field trips.  Other- art projects & book reports.  We had a wonderful first week & look forward to many more.
