This verse from the Bible certainly pertains to St. Matthew’s Episcopal School. Only through the grace of God and His undying love for us have we prospered. God has a plan for our welfare and our future. With each passing year that I am here at St. Matthew’s Episcopal School, I am constantly reminded that we, the staff, faculty and Board of Trustees, are not in control; God is. Each year God has placed individuals with us to teach, nurture and guide us in our mission of providing an education to the children that are left in our care. These individuals are teachers, parents, benefactors, friends and community. I am ever mindful of God’s presence and work here at our school. He deserves the glory for the growth and success of our school, the expertise of our faculty, the welfare and safety of our students, and the financial stability of the school.
Any time struggles come, we may view their very presence as a sign of something wrong. After all, can’t all difficulties be avoided by following the commands of the Bible? No. God does not guarantee us a trouble free life. Truly living for God means we can expect to encounter some difficult situations. Nonetheless, we can rest in the promise that God will be with us every step of the way. We know that no matter the circumstance, we are always in God’s hands. I truly believe that all of us are the instruments that God uses to do His work. St. Matthew’s has been blessed with so many wonderful people and I am confident that each and every person is here because God has placed them here. Our teachers are here because they love to teach children, not for monetary compensation; most consider it a labor of love. Parents also recognize that St. Matthew’s is a special place for their children to be in their formative years, where they receive an academic education, spiritual guidance and love. The students regard St. Matthew’s more as a home, and the people here as family … what better endorsement can we have!
We welcome you to visit our campus and see our teachers and students at work. As our school flourishes and grows, we are ever mindful that we are the instruments of God and that He has plans for our welfare and our future.
May God richly bless you,
