Parents participate in the community life at St. Matthew’s Episcopal School at every level, from classroom volunteering to social activities to the fundraising events so critical to the maintenance and extension of our academic programs. St. Matthew’s Episcopal School expects parents to become involved, to learn more about their own children and fellow students, to observe their activities firsthand, and to experience the fellowship of other parents in pursuit of our common goal: the best possible education for our children. The Parent Association promotes a positive image of St. Matthew's Episcopal School, in school community and the community at large, by hosting class and parent meetings as necessary, and by promoting parental involvement and participation in school events. Meetings are held a minimum of two times a year between August and May, at the discretion of the chairman. Special meetings may be called.
The Dad’s Club was formed during the 2006-2007 school year. Our Dad’s Club assembled our new playground equipment, and lends “man power” to certain projects around the campus. They provide a very valuable service to the school by helping the faculty and staff as needed. The Dad’s Club is also an avenue for the dad’s of SMES to network and interact on a social basis.
St. Matthew’s Episcopal School has contracted with Brushworks Academy to teach our students art lessons. Once a month, students in Kindergarten—7th grade get one hour of instruction. Students use water colors, chalk, foil, crayon, paint and other media to create beautiful works of art.
